All elders and MS were to be at the KH twenty minutes prior to the start of the meeting. The book study was the exception.

were you ever told to do things that had no bearing on the scriptures or even policies of the watchtower?.
we had one co who upon inspection insisted that the body of elders and servants be cleaven shaven, cut their hair and remove their sideburns.. i use to have a patch of hair under my bottom lip.
the co pointing to it asked, "what's that?

i'm doing this well in advance so that all the wonderful people on jwd can look back later and see just how close they were to the actual number!
(it is possible the wts might stop publishing the partaker numbers) in a few days, i will duly record the link to this thread for future reference.. remember that there were 8524 partakers in 2005 and 8758 partakers in 2006, an increase of 234 partakers.
so how many remnant will partake in 2007??.
9119
I'm figuring roughly a 10% increase. I know of several older ones who mention heaven quite often, but don't promote it. I suppose that they were afraid of the implications that may come upon them in the terms of suspicious looks from fellow members in the congregation. These ones were Biblically sound, yet a little odd from the general JW populace. I see these ones partaking. Afterall, they see that they are getting older and that this system hasn't concluded on time as they were taught all these years. Their hope now lies with God and His calling rather than the guesses of imperfect men.

P.S. Do you think they'll even publish the figures for next year (the 2008 Memorial partakers)?
to answer alligator wisdom's request for more info on myself...it will have to come out in trickles.
i am a prolific writer if i allow myself.
for now, i will tell you that until recently i was an elder.
Thanks for following up on some of the questions I had on the other thread. Being a newbie poster on this board prompts us to want to know a little bit more about you. Of course, your privacy and concealment is top priority and your right. We all know how the JW world can bite back like a deadly snake in terms of shunning.
Keep posting. Inquiring minds want to know.
Welcome to JWD.

i was wondering if there are any current regular posters here that are still active , but are mentally inactive and don't believe all the bull anymore, and are just going through the motions to keep their life with friends and family together.. i realize this might be a posting that will probably get 0 replies, but.......
Do tell us about yourself when you have the chance!
I know there are Elders™ in my old Congregation™ that watch this board for Apostates™ from our KingdumbHall™. I know, I used to be one of 'em.
Really? Is this common for elders to do, as a collective body? I'm not so sure about that. What will the CO say? Of course, he doesn't know.
So is that why you are on your way out? Do you owe it to JWD via the internet?

i'm new here -- i confidently disassociated in 1994 (but really left the organization in 1992).
i was a ministerial servant and gave talks at conventions.
i'm not bragging, but just giving you an idea of my involvement.
Typically one would give several public talks as an MS before even being assigned to speak at a neighboring congregation, let alone "give talks at a convention". You must have been one heck of a "shooting star" to go from just-appointed MS to giving talks at a convention....when, in my experience, I've never seen any MS give a talk even at a Circuit Assembly, let alone a convention...some elders wait decades to get even a Circuit Assembly part, and you bypassed all of them, straight to the top, a talk at a DC while still an MS...
I'm with you at that sir82.
However, he probably meant that he gave a part (#4 TMS) at the circuit assembly. Heck, it could even have been a #2 Bible reading at the circuit assembly. I'm sure that no MS will ever have a part at a CA or DC. That is, a part being defined as a themed talk printed on the program.

today i have realized (once more) how the watchtower shit cult has ruined my life!
today i am really pissed off at them...... i'm writing this hoping that two groups of people read this.
either some watchtower people that monitor this site or people that think to join this crap!.
Your vent helps many realize that they are not alone. Some other posters have made good suggestions. I like Gill's. You can expose certain aspects of the WTS Corporation. Many of us would like for you to exploit it. Being an active elder gives you some access and leverage.
Just don't get involved too much procedure-wise. It will sap your energy. We know that you are mentally out. If you believe in God and Jesus, just treat your fellow members in the congregation as Christ would. Keep the dangerous fanatical Pharisee like ones away from you. You don't need them. You can still be a refreshing person to all you know, at home, work and in the neighborhood.
When I find that many people who are frustrated and depressed about being a JW is when they are following men and men's rules/traditions. No wonder why Jesus felt sorry for the people who were under the yoke of the religious leaders of that time.
To feel better, exercise some. It does a world of good.

i just purchased the 2006 annual report for the australian watchtower bible and tract society.
below are the highlights.
most incredible is that donations dropped by almost 50%, from 15 million dollars to only 10 million dollars.
The one thing I am not sure of is how much is staying in congregations. Maybe the WTS is afraid of loosing everything through law suites, so encouraging the congregations to keep the donations individually in congregation accounts. Do any elders on JWD know if there has been any letters in regards to donations recently?
As I used to be the account servant at my former congregation, so I can say what we did. The POs instructions was for me to electronically wire half of the congregations bank account to New York once that amount reached US$5000. It was to be a congregation donation to the worldwide work.
I've been account servant for five years there. We reached $5000 in the congregation account three times during that time period (late 90's early 2000's). I don't know if this happens at all congregations. I suppose each has their own procedure.

to hear a prophet speak.
ya, ya this is joe hoover's playground but....learning about species 8179 can only add more perspective (and ammunition) to combat the warped world of joe hoover.
from all i've read about the wts i was afraid, terribly afraid.
I'm planning on having Mormon Missionaries *and* the Pioneers attend my house the same night and time for bible study. I can't wait to see
It could be an interesting episode if it were aired on some type of reality TV program.

as i've mentioned a few times before, i'm working on a round of articles for austin cline's site.
the final "big daddy" article is an evaluation: is the wts a controlling, harmful cult?
but i don't plan on doing an attack article.
A fairly decent pro-JW site:

in a recent post, i asked for help with a "jw" organization chart i am trying to create.. my greatest problem was with understanding the relationships at the "upper level" of the organization.
i have addressed this in some detail in my latest iteration and believe i am getting closer.. my picture is at:.

Not according to the May 1 2007 Watchtower.
Members of the FDS do not have any special "insights" and they don't have more "holy spirit" than the "other sheep" class. But they are under the direction of the GB. So I count three classes now. The "other sheep", the "FDS" and above all the GB.
Pardon me bob1999, but they never once used the term "Faithful and Discreet Slave" in that article that you are referring to. They use the word "annointed" only.
Do you see the direction that this is going? The next new light will be that the GB is the FDS that is dispensing food at the proper time. And get this, most of the JWs will swallow that whole because they all know that the scattered remaining annointed has absolutely no input what-so-ever in doctrine or organizational issues.
So yes, the GB is the FDS. You heard it first on JWD.
